New Client Launch - College Park Prosperity Dashboard
New data visualization makes economic development site sing
When it comes to data, you can't please everyone. But you can intrigue them. This is precisely what College Park's new economic data dashboard accomplishes on the City's website – a new way to tell their story that responds to the times we live in, where data access and currency are table stakes.
Every community is unique, with different strengths and assets to highlight to businesses, site selectors and investors. In College Park's case, the dashboard cuts right to the strength they have in the University of Maryland talent pipeline, with more than 20% growth in degrees issued over the past 10 years. There is even a detailed trend on degrees by program area, with Computer Science grads spiking in the last few years. For prospective companies, these data and the insights they provide would have been a buried headline, if not for the dashboard.
Beyond the website, the economic development staff now has a additional tool to bring to conferences and events, something the economic development director likens to a "baseball card" of stats, pocket-sized, but powerful.
In College Park's case, the dashboard embedded seamlessly into their existing Economic Development homepage, with no major changes in layout or design required. You can see the dashboard on the website by clicking here. From start to finish, the dashboard was developed by eIMPACT staff in under 3 weeks, including an iteration based on client feedback.
