Broome County, NY Launches New Data Site
Dashboard sets baseline economic stats and tracks recovery
The Broome County Industrial Development Authority, better known as The Agency, has modeled itself as the "dynamic, approachable driver of economic development in Broome County". The use of the terms dynamic and approachable could well describe their new economic dashboard – a consolidated, easy-to-consume set of indicators that shows they are serious about growing a diverse local economy and quickening the pace of recovery from the impacts of covid.
Broome County is a special area, to be sure. They're ranked in the top ten of communities of their size for creativity, generate $7 billion in economic activity and have a great quality of life. The new data site serves to back this story up through the numbers, both informing and intriguing prospective residents and businesses.
The dashboard took about two weeks to develop, with eIMPACT's team doing the heavy lifting on data sourcing, visualization and layout. The smart folks at The Agency provided the vision and direction.
